Sifu Rai began training during the “Wing Chun Wars” of the late 1980s.
He is a Wing Chun insider who has sought out and trained with some of the best Wing Chun masters in the world and now carries the torch of Wing Chun forward for the next generation.
He has lived and trained in Hong Kong and China and has distilled traditional methods into a practical and modern training system that emphasises directness, hidden power and clever strategy.
Over the course of nearly 40 years he has refined and tested his Wing Chun from the Thai Boxing rings of Thailand and South Korea to the backstreets of Kowloon. He is the only Wing Chun instructor to have coached the police Tactical Aid Unit.
Sifu Rai’s Wing Chun is different because:
His training encompasses multiple “lineages” - he has refined, tested and innovated the system, and isn’t limited by one teacher or method.
He has trained other martial arts to a competitive level. He has competed in Thai Boxing and Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, and draws on innovative coaching methods from across the martial arts.
He has used his Wing Chun in competition against different martial arts.
His classes offer regular opportunities for pressure testing.
He doesn’t use obscure or foreign terminology or arbitrary grading systems. We don’t do certificates or gradings.
